Join the Decoded Futures AI Learning Cohort as an AI Volunteer

Are you passionate about using AI but wish you could use it to make a real-world impact? Then join us as a Decoded Futures AI volunteer!

The Decoded Futures AI Learning Cohort is seeking 40 tech volunteers to collaborate with New York City nonprofits in their journey to harness the power of AI for social good. This is your chance to contribute to meaningful change while working alongside like-minded innovators.

Why You Should Join: 

  • Do Good: Partner with nonprofits tackling some of NYC’s toughest challenges to help all New Yorkers. 

  • Innovate: Help craft novel AI-powered solutions that directly address nonprofit needs that current tools and services can’t. 

  • Join Your Peers: Connect with a diverse cohort of technologists and social impact leaders from across NYC. 

  • Learn & Grow: Gain insight into how AI can transform sectors beyond traditional tech.

What We’re Looking For: 

  • AI Enthusiasts: You’re comfortable building and using AI and agentic products. You might not have to code to solve some of these nonprofits' problems, but computational thinking is a must.

  • Problem Solvers: Ambiguity doesn’t scare you—you thrive in undefined spaces. 

  • Local Commitment: You’re based in NYC or can attend in-person sessions. 

  • Human-Centered: You don’t have to be the most outgoing, but people know you as friendly, kind, and ready to collaborate.

What You’ll Do:

As a volunteer, you’ll partner with the Decoded Futures staff and nonprofit leaders to: 

  • Assess their unique challenges. 

  • Prototype AI-powered solutions tailored to their goals. 

  • Build capacity by sharing your expertise in responsible, impactful AI implementation.

Program Details: 

  • Dates: The session begins on February 4th with our nonprofit partners, but you won’t likely be needed for support until mid-February. Please be able to make the following : 

  • February 25, 3:00pm - 5:00pm (In-person in NYC, Design Day)

  • March 4, 3:00pm - 5:00pm (Virtual)

  • March 11, 3:00pm - 5:00pm (Virtual)

  • Location: Hybrid format with 1-2 in-person sessions in NYC. 

  • Commitment: 

  • Available to join 3 x 2 hour sessions with nonprofits

  • Available for 1-2 hours / week advising and/or coding with nonprofits

  • ~10 hrs/month
